YCJUSD Choir Festival

Participating Class: Choir

Students will perform for a panel of judges and receive written feedback that we will use to continue improving throughout the remainder of the year. Students will then participate in a short clinic with Mr. Young, the YHS Choir Director. We won’t know our exact performance time until approximately 2 weeks prior to the event.

SCSBOA Regional Festival @ Lakeside High School (Tentative)

Participating Class: Period 1

In order to participate in this event, we need to earn a “superior” rating at the Redlands High School Festival on 3/12/26. We will perform a slightly different set of music for another panel of judges. The rubric will be stricter and our sight reading score will affect our overall rating.

Students will perform for a panel of judges who will be looking at copies of our music while we play. They will provide written and recorded feedback along with grades that will factor in to an overall rating. They will then perform a piece of music they have never seen before and be given a rating based on their reading ability. We will use the feedback we receive to accelerate our improvement into the end of the year. Please note that we won’t know our exact performance times until a week prior to the event.

Students will perform a short concert showcasing the skills they have developed over the course of the quarter. This performance will be approximately 25 minutes long. No special uniform is required. Please feel free to invite family and friends.

MUS6 Q1 Showcase

Participating Classes: Per. 4

Students currently enrolled in the MUS6 portion of the elective wheel will be presenting a short showcase of the skills they have developed over the course of the quarter. This performance will only last about 25-30 minutes. Admission is free so please feel free to invite family and friends. Students who enjoyed this more than they thought and are continuing for the remainder of the year, will need to return the necessary signed paperwork to Mr. Kane by 10/2/25 in class.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night

Participating Classes: Per. 1

Our Mustang Band (Advanced Band) will be performing in the quad for the beginning of back to school night. This will be less like a traditional performance and more like a rehearsal. It will give us a chance to share our process with families and will hopefully demonstrate how much progress can be made during a class period. We will work until 6:30pm and then I will be available in the quad for questions
